Why Multi-Angle Surface Inspection Matters

A defect may be visible on one side of a coffee bean but hidden from another viewing angle. The WESORT QuadEye system uses multiple camera directions to collect more surface views of each passing material. Computer vision evaluates visible differences in color, shape, and surface texture, while the sorting system removes material that matches the configured reject criteria.

This approach can reduce the chance that a side-facing visible defect is missed. It evaluates surface-visible features; it should not be presented as a method for detecting defects that have no visible external signal.

A Coffee Sorting Reference from Mexico

A Mexican coffee processor purchased a smaller WESORT coffee sorter in 2023 and added a larger machine in 2024 after its initial use. The application focused on green coffee sorting.
